Weddings at
Holding your wedding at Upwey House means enjoying SO much more than just the ceremony and celebration - you can revel in the before and after too with the people that you love the most. Upwey House is truly majestic but we do not stand on ceremony. We pride ourselves on our friendly, fuss-free and flexible approach and we want you to make our house your home during your stay. Whilst the house provides a stunning backdrop, the private 23 acres of rural landscape offers the very best nature has to offer. You could say "I do" inside in our cosy yet bright Drawing Room, under our rose-clad gazebo or on our terrace lawn gazing out over the South Coast or in the woodland on the lazy banks of the River Wey.
Our wedding packages include a three-night stay over a weekend at Upwey House (for up to 24 guests) with private and exclusive use of the property and 23 acres of grounds. We can accommodate up to 120 people for your ceremony and/or celebration and prices depend on numbers and seasonality. Costs for the registrars, coverings such as marquees, stretch tents or awnings, catering, portable WCs and chair/table hire are additional. There is no corkage fee and you can bring in your own suppliers as long as they have suitable insurance.
One day or 1-2 night wedding packages are possible midweek (Tuesday-Thursday) off-season.

We are licensed to hold legal wedding ceremonies at Upwey House. There are various options open to you, in the house or within the 23 acres of land. Here are some of the most popular locations for your ceremony. There is an additional charge of £450 to hold your legal ceremony at Upwey House.

What you may need for your wedding
We welcome all types and style of wedding from a cosy and intimate gathering with just those people staying at the house or an all-singing, all-dancing event for up to 120 guests. Or you can opt for something in between. Whatever your preference Upwey House is a breath-taking venue from the very first moment your guests turn in from the driveway and see the 17th Century Manor House perched on top of the hill. Below you will find details on elements you may need for your wedding. For weddings of 60 and under you can use the facilities at the house, meaning your caterer can use our kitchen or The Cook House to prepare your food and your guests can use the toilets in the house rather than hire in portable WC's. You can hire in a stretch-tent style covering for the terrace so that your guests can enjoy a wedding breakfast or relaxed BBQ without worrying about the rain or too much sun. For larger weddings of over 60, you might want to think about a tipi or marquee on the lower tennis court lawn. For numbers over 60 you will need to consider caterers who can provide generators and portable WC's.
Catering
Whether you prefer a formal three-course meal, a wow-factor BBQ, freshly made pizza, locally-sourced seafood specialities, Spanish paella, a fish and chip van or an afternoon high tea and cake we can recommend excellent and creative caterers to suit all tastes. Or you can DIY. For numbers under 60 guests, caterers are welcome to use our well-equipped and spacious kitchen as well as The Cook House BBQ and wood-burner pizza oven. For larger numbers, caterers will need to supply their own power-generated portable kitchen
Drinks
A drop of the good stuff can be an important part of a celebration. We don't charge corkage so you can bring in whatever type or style of tipple you want. We can recommend a number of excellent local producers and cocktail and bar suppliers who can set up and serve wherever you fancy. Or you can do it yourself. With four fridges and a large chest freezer there is plenty of space for chilling. If you want to run a cash bar you'll need to apply for a Temporary Events License.
Music
Our wedding couples have enjoyed all kinds of entertainment and music over the years - DJ's, rock bands, tribute acts, folk bands, quartets, soloists and even bagpipers. We can help you source whatever or whoever you fancy but please note that all amplified outdoor music must be turned off by 11pm out of respect to our neighbours
Photos
Upwey House offers a huge array of stunning photo opportunities meaning that you will have exquisite memories to savour. We can recommend a number of phenomenal local photographers or you can bring along your own.
WCs
For numbers over 60 you will need to hire in portable WC's for your event. These come in all shapes and sizes - luxuriously modern, basic or shabby-chic. We work with a number of suppliers who will do all the hard work and site your loos near your main party area so guests only have to stumble a few yards to powder their noses.
Extras
Anything goes at Upwey House. We can help with local florists, experts in styling and decor, fun garden activities for your guests, make-up and hair artists and fantastic cake makers. We've even had a hot air balloon in the lower field so please don't be afraid to ask for anything different or quirky.
Awning
Depending on your guest numbers and your trust in British weather you may want to consider hiring a tent of some form for your ceremony and/or to cover the terrace for your celebration. For numbers around 60, you can hire in a stretch tent or awning allowing you and your guests to eat, drink and celebrate relaxed in the knowledge that you are protected from rain or sun whilst still being able to enjoy both the outstanding views and the feeling of being outside.
Marquee
For numbers over 60 we recommend hiring in a marquee or tipi which can be sited on the terrace lawn or on the lower and larger tennis court lawn. We can help with local suppliers of traditional marquees, simple gazebos, tipis, bell tents, chinese hats and stretch tents to suit your numbers, your taste and your budget.
Furniture
You can make use of our handmade dining table inside for up to 18 guests in our Dining Room or you can use our outdoor terrace furniture for a more relaxed alfresco dining experience. We can also help with suppliers to hire in additional furniture of all styles and configurations if you are looking for something a bit bigger or a bit different.
